Are tile wall panels for the kitchen safe?

Customers often ask us if installing PVC wall panels in the kitchen is safe. Particularly if they are used behind the hob or the sink as a kitchen splashback. The answer is yes. There are three major advantages you get from using PVC wall panels for the kitchen:

1. Fire-resistant: PVC is one of the least combustible materials you can install in your kitchen. The heat from a hob will not directly affect them with normal day to day use. If you are unfortunate enough to get a pan fire on your hob the most that can happen is some distortion or charring.

2. Hygienic: Unlike normal tiles, kitchen wall panels have no grouted joints and the surface is smooth meaning that a wipe over with a cloth and some soapy water will keep them sparkling and hygienic. Our PVC wall cladding comes in thicknesses between 5mm and 10mm. This means that with such a slim profile you are not losing much space when you install them directly over your existing ceramic tile walls.
With the right adhesive and some basic hand tools you can cover up those old tiles in no time at all. When you install them directly over existing tiles, you will create a completely new layer with its own waterproof seal that will prevent condensation from finding its way between layers to cause problems with mould and mildew.
